When it comes to activewear, we now expect a certain level of style. With the minimum requirement being able to go to brunch straight after your barre class, athleisure wear is proving a category that just won’t quit. There are a plethora of fashionable Australian fitness brands plugging this whole in the market, but it’s a Canadian-UK collab that has our current attention.
Lululemon has teamed up with contemporary British designer brand Roksanda, and the results are sure to make those post-barre brunch dates a whole lot more fashionable.
The first of two ranges with Serbian-born, London-based designer Roksanda Illinčić showcase her skill with unexpected colour combinations and fashion-forward silhouettes, but still retain the technology-informed details that lululemon is known for; sweat-wicking fabrics, fan-favourite shapes, packable features and reflective accents.
Oversized sleeves give a feminine edge to outerwear, clever colour-blocking draws attention to the modern silhouettes and contrasting trims and cord ties add a sporty touch to otherwise classic tanks and duffle bags.
Versatility is key, perfectly illustrated by the Inner Expanse Infinity Coat; which can be worn as a light trench coat, a puffer or a coat. Nifty, huh?
The designer says of the collaboration, “It was the idea of limitless possibility in performance, combined with a founded sense of femininity, that inspired this collaboration of worlds… Now more than ever, women are focusing on pushing boundaries. They’re looking for product that enhances the balance of style and function.”
With pieces specifically designed with running, yoga and cross-training in mind, as well as all-weather conditions, there looks to be something for everyone. For inside the gym, and beyond.
The first collection, encompassing 16 pieces, will drop in October online and in selected lululemon stores. The second collection? We’ll have to wait until January 2020 for that. Bring on the New Year.
